I've always been good at languages in general, and English in particular. We don't usually dub imported tv-shows - well, except for the ones specifically for kids - so there's a LOT of English-language programming on tv.Īlso, I started playing video games early on, and that meant I had to practise my English-skills, or I couldn't progress in the game - I got a LOT of practise out of Final Fantasy IX, for example.
LEARN HOW TO SPEAK ENGLISH TV
If you’d like to know more about how it works, please don’t hesitate to send your questions via our contact form below.I'm Swedish, and I learned English partly through school - it's one of the three most important core-subjects (the others being Swedish and Math) and in my school, we started lessons in it in 2nd grade (so, when we're about 8) - and partly through watching tv and movies. You’ll soon learn to understand different accents and gain experience in different kinds of conversations learning to agree and disagree, be persuasive or show compassion. You’ll soon discover the ‘magic’ of our community as you have the opportunity to meet and learn from women from different cultures, countries and careers. These events take place online via video call in small groups so you will always have the opportunity to participate. We have events hosted by our expert language coaches, our community team and our community members, and you’re welcome to attend them all. This means you’ll be able to prepare and know exactly what you’ll be talking about when you join the conversation! You’ll have daily opportunities to immerse yourself in English. One of the wonderful things about our community is that each week there will be 1-2 topics that the whole community will be talking about. We also offer extra training in overcoming fear and anxiety, and general conversation skills too. From there, we provide you with the ‘tools’ for conversation - structured learning materials prepared by our expert language coaches including conversation topics, new vocabulary, practical expressions and pronunciation training. So the first thing that happens when you join our community is you’ll get to meet other members! In fact, we will personally introduce you at one of our “New Member Meetups”. Everything we do begins with the connection between two people. This makes our content interesting, relevant and useful for our members to practise. Our conversation topics focus on women’s issues - particularly workplace issues, family and relationships, traditions and culture. Through our conversations we create lasting friendships so our members can continue to practise their speaking skills over long periods of time. We work closely with women to strengthen and improve their confidence and collaborate as a group to improve their conversation skills. We work with women only because we focus on the motivation, self-belief and confidence issues that women learning English have (they can be quite different to men). If you are unsure about your English level, you can complete this test to find out your English level.

Please note that we don’t offer private classes or formal language training and certifications. Our language coaches are available to guide and support you but the progress you make will depend on how much you participate. The vocabulary and grammar structures we teach are designed to challenge you and broaden your English ability. The reason you’ll need an intermediate to advanced level of English is because our lessons, workbooks and content are created for a strong intermediate level. Hey Lady! is not for everyone, so we're glad you asked this question! To start with, you must be a woman (sorry men!), over 18 years of age and have an intermediate to advanced level of English.
